Adventure!
meranthi and I went to Borders for Christmas presents™, using my 15% off coupon for being on their email list or being an affiliate or something like that. The coupon was only good through today, so off we went in the wet world without waterproof weather gear. Tramping in the water, dripped on by the buildings, and generally happy - or at least I was.

We got there and looked at a lot of interesting books, including one of the Quran that had the Arabic in one column (on the right) and the English on the left. Very nice. There was also a new Anita Blake (Laurell K. Hamilton) novel that I briefly drooled over. It's in hardcover, which I couldn't justify for a book that is glorified soft-porn, so it went back on the shelf.

I didn't find anything for parental units, so I need to go back. I am thinking that one of the photo books would be a good idea. Probably one of Harley's for my dad. But I don't want a lot of text - he has had over 3 surgeries on his eyes to prevent diabetes-related blindness. He still mostly couldn't see when I visted over Thanksgiving (3 weeks after the last surgery.) It's either that or maybe a Harley plushie?

I found something for one person, but I will probably go back and get other things later.

Feeling like: drying

I think there's another coupon floating around that's good for next weekend, in case you're planning on going back then.

I can't seem to find that coupon in my email. Stupid me probably deleted it. :P

Don't worry, you can find one online.

Are those 15% off on a single item or a whole passel of books?

I'd look into audio-books for your dad. Post eye-surgery back in high school, I listened to a lot of them.

It was the whole kit and kaboodle (15% off total purchase/10% off video and dvd?/0% off gift certificates). ^_^; So, lots were available for purchase.

Wow. So how'd you get that again? How annoying is it being on their lists?

I'm on the email list. The emails are about twice monthly, though the frequency increases around this time of year. The emails actually need to be read to get to the coupons - and when I don't read them, I find things like around Thanksgiving it was buy 4 books get the 5th free!

The emails are HTML/full graphic. I don't remember if there is an option for just text, but it wasn't really an issue for me. I like getting them this way provided they don't crash my computer. :>

The coupons are almost always available on the web - I usually find out about them at dvdtalk.com (posted a link to a thread above). Borders tends to have at least one 10-20% off coupon every month or two.
