Meow strike!
Saru-chan is either lonely or bored or just vindictive, because her early morning meows are getting worse. They aren't louder or longer per se, but they are earlier. Thus I woke up at 0330 for the second day in a row and was nearly dead by the time jigglius got up at 0630. So, I have begged out of game for tonight and will probably be completely useless today at work. Very exciting that.

Today I get off work early to pick up our certified marriage license. After that I get to try and figure out why I wasn't allowed to change my first name on the marriage license (at least one couple I know of has indicated that they put full names on the marriage license, but we were only allowed to put last names in the pertinent after marriage section). I still intend to change my first name, but do not relish the idea of $165 to change it here. However, I want to change it before speaking to Social Security for a new updated card (they require a form of evidence with the full correct new name on it. I could do it now with just the last name changing and then would have to do it later with the additional change - more work for both myself and the SS department.).

So, I am completely wiped and annoyed at the government for making something that should be simple instead really difficult. If anyone has any sources for name change (other than the filing fee and the form) for adults, that would be excellent. The only thing I can seem to find it name change for minor children. I am neither a minor child nor do I have one, so that is not exactly the most pertinent in my case.

Feeling like: governmental

Maybe it is the moon, because Miss Cleo has been doing the same thing the last two nights. At least I get to sleep until 5AM though....

It's been more like a month for us.

?? I didn't even know you were changing your first name. I am so out of it, being way over here. ^_^; To what?

It's just changing spelling. Pronunciation will still be the same.

1. Had to show up with multiple forms of identification (with picture and signature) to get my birth cirtificate from the town I was born in (Available in the town hall / I forget the cost of the copy)
2. Stopped by the local court to put in a petition for name change - They have paperwork available there (Again, I forget the cost)
3. I had to pay for the placement of an ad in the paper declaring the change and schedule an interview with a judge that reviewed my petition
4. The ad appeared in the paper
5. I attended the interview and the judge stamped my paper after verifying that I was not attempting anything criminal
6. I went to the social security office with the paper that the judge had given me and paid to have them change the name on my social security number (Once again, I forget the cost)

What was funny about the process to me was that we retain our social security numbers no matter what - So just remember, you're just a number to them.

Forgot this,
once I had the social security card, I had to change my driver's license and had to contact all other places with whom I was currently conducting business (including my workplace)
