Let there be cake!
Note to self.

When you want to make a layer cake using a 13x9 inch pan, use two boxes of cake mix. Or, ideally, just make smaller cakes.

Watching the cake try to break into two as you take it from the pan is distressing. But it smells good, and the thin layer of orange marmalade should prevent too many more problems with the cake before the full frosting.

Well, this was an Oranged Spice Cake. And it is definitely on the spicier end for cake. Instead, I put a layer of orange marmalade under the frosting. It came out well.

If you want me to bring a slice (this is not a cake that Betsy would appreciate), please note that it is a cake I am working on for an article for Chile Pepper magazine.

Betsy picked all the broccoli out of the chicken broccoli casserole that our friends made last night. Sweet girl, but one of the pickiest eaters I know. Fortunately she knows it too.

Um... how hot are we talking here?

You are not cleared for that (but honestly, I am thinking about Chile Pepper magazine...). It has gotten a number of good reviews and one person who thinks it is too spicy for her and one who said it leaves her mouth warm.
