Gardening
I live in an apartment. Two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining-living room, bathroom, and two porches. I have basement storage.

Two porches, a lot of windows, and an intense desire to turn my black thumb into a green thumb.

To that end, I garden. But in my limited space, there is nothing that really looks like a garden. It is all container gardening. Ugly plastic pots and window boxes provide havens to violets which mostly bloom with riotous colors, a few stalks of broccoli which are also flowering (oops), and bits of greenery which are either the other plants started from seed or are strawberries (crossed fingers) or weeds (no crossed fingers).

And then there are the pumpkins.

Pumpkins are large viny plants. So large, in fact, that the planting instructions say to space them on mounds eight feet apart. So, the fact that there are three pumpkins growing in one large pot is not something to be completely happy about. So, this weekend, right after I clean other parts of the apartment and have decided I've enough stitching for the day, I will go out to the front porch with more pots and more soil and I will put everything else back in window planters. I will then carefully dig up the two smaller pumpkin plants and put them in pots. I will then retie the large pumpkin plant, and I will move all of the porch furniture to make room for what will hopefully be a jungle of thick vines.

Pumpkins. Apparently a plant even I can't screw up.

Well, if you eat broccoli florets (spelling definitely optional), then I think flowering is bad. Haven't checked yet. It might be too late.
